FIRST COAST NEWS INVITES EVERYONE TO HELP STUFF THE BUS!
First Coast News is First For You with the Stuff the Bus school supply drive. For thousands of low-income children on the First Coast, The First Coast News Stuff the Bus drive will make all the difference in preparing them for the first day of school. More and more, in these tough economic times, children begin the school year without the basic supply necessities. The entire First Coast News team invites you to participate in our annual school supply drive.
Continuing a partnership that has helped furnish thousands of children with school supplies over the years, FIRST COAST NEWS WTLV NBC-12/WJXX ABC-25, THE SALVATION ARMY, PUBLIX SUPER MARKETS, COMMUNITY FIRST CREDIT UNIONS, THE UNITED WAY of NORTHEAST FLORIDA and FULL SERVICE SCHOOLS are appealing to the community for donations of common school supply items. Large Salvation Army barrels are ready and waiting in Publix stores and Community First Credit Union locations in Duval, Clay, St. Johns, Putnam and Nassau counties. The annual drive will continue through Saturday, August 4th.
Friday, August 3rd, watch for special reports on Good Morning Jacksonville from 5am to 7am, and First Coast News at 5pm, 5:30pm, 6pm and 7pm ... then again on August 4th on Good Morning Jacksonville Saturday from 8am - 9am.
Stuff the Bus also helps teachers. Supplies collected during the Stuff the Bus drive will also benefit teachers through the Full Service Schools initiative. The Full Service Schools Resource Center supports 80 schools in Duval County. Teachers have access to these much needed supplies for their students. The neighborhoods served are Arlington, Westside, Northside, Springfield, Sandalwood, Paxon, Englewood and the Beaches area.
