JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- First Coast News is learning more about what happens to the money that was donated by Allied Veterans of the World.
The internet cafes operated by Allied Veterans of the World were shut down Tuesday in what investigators are calling an alleged gambling scheme.
Duval County Supervisor of Elections Jerry Holland said no local political candidates received money directly from the group, though there were some donations from Jerry Bass and Bass Consulting.
Bass is one of those arrested and is national commander of Allied Veterans of the World.
Holland said money for campaigns that have been completed cannot be returned.
Active campaigns can return donations, but are not obligated to do so.
Jacksonville area Congresswoman Corrine Brown did receive $500 from Allied Veterans of the World.
She has since made a donation in that same amount to another organization.
