HIRAM, Ga. -- Authorities say an Austell man who was convicted of child molestation six months ago was arrested for sexually assaulting a 7-year-old boy.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that the Paulding County Sheriff's office says 19-year-old Demetrius Cortez Jones was arrested on Wednesday.
Jones was charged with child molestation and aggravated sodomy and being held without bond at the Paulding County Detention Center.
The sheriff's office says Jones fled a Hiram residence where the alleged assault occurred after being confronted by a witness. Jones was convicted in Cobb County last August for child molestation and had registered as a sex offender last November.
It was not known whether Jones has an attorney, and he could not be reached for comment.
