Eric Childers shows off some of the above ground tornado shelters
YULEE, Fla. -- A company in Yulee has been building above ground tornado shelters since October, and they can't seem to keep any in stock.
"Yeah, we've been pretty busy," said Family Safe Southeast's Eric Childers.
They typically build between five and seven shelters a week, and are shipped out all across the country.
They say their shelters have been rated to stand up to the strongest tornadoes, EF-5.
"We've got a zero failure rate," Childers said. "We want to keep it that way, probably a dozen or so of our shelters have taken direct hits.
They can fit into a garage, or be retrofitted into the side of a home.
Childers says the steel construction of the shelters can withstand 100,000 pounds sitting on top.
