CAMDEN COUNTY, Ga. -- A man has been booked on a charge of trafficking cocaine after police said a K-9 officer found cocaine in his car during a traffic stop.

Fred Evans Jr., 39, was booked into the main Camden County Jail after approximately 2.2 pounds of cocaine was found in the Nissan Maxima he was driving on Sunday night, according to an Camden County Sheriff's Office incident report.

Evans was driving on Interstate 95 northbound near mile marker 11 when  Deputy Devon Carter saw Evans "cross the lane divider," according to the report.

Carter pulled Evans over near exit 14.  Evans said the reason he went out of his lane was because he was trying to take a sip out of a drink.

Evans seemed to be "overly friendly and very talkative," according to Carter's report. Evans was also standing in front of the car with his hands behind his back as if they were already handcuffed.

Sgt. Brown arrived with K-9 Chachal, who "did a free air search" of the car, according to the report. Next to the gas pedal and above the radio, Chachal found a rectangular-shaped item that was duct taped.

Evans was placed under arrest and said he didn't know anything about the package.
