JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A crash involving an overturned log truck shut down the northbound lanes of U.S. 301 for more about three hours Wednesday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash happened near Fiftone Road, north of Normandy Boulevard, before 4 a.m.
FHP said they believe the driver, identified as 49-year-old Donald Cooper, overturned after he over corrected while to clean the inside of the truck's windshield. He sustained non-life-threatening injuries in the crash.
A tow truck came and flipped the truck upright, before clearing it from the roadway. Logs covering the northbound lanes were removed so traffic could resume traveling through the area.
Troopers rerouted traffic onto Normandy Boulevard. Cooper was cited for careless driving and driving without a seat belt.
