JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Florida Theatre will host the 21st Annual Community Nutcracker December 7 and 8. The ballet's proceeds will go to benefit Dreams Come True, the featured charity.
Over 200 performers will take to the stage during the weekend as the Nutcracker Suite is brought to life.
The Community Nutcracker has worked with Dreams Come True for the past eight years. During the Community Nutcracker's 21 year run, more than $350,000 has been raised for local charities.
Through their partnership with Dreams Come True, more than 30 children battling life-threatening illnesses have been able to enjoy the Christmas classic.
The Community Nutcracker will host Community Service Night in addition to its two public performances. Two thousand free tickets will be given out to various agencies and organizations for the special performance which will take place Thursday, December 6.
There will also be special performances for over 400 children from various area schools. The students attend the Community Nutcracker on special field trips which for some may be their first exposure to a full-length ballet.
Tickets for the December 7 and December 8 public performances may be purchased at the Florida Theatre. To purchase tickets or for more information, call 904-355-2787 or visit the Florida Theatre website at www.floridatheatre.com.
