JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Hoping to build on their adoption event that sent 946 dogs and cats home, First Coast No More Homeless Pets (FCNMHP) and Jacksonville Animal Care and Protective Services (JACPS) will hold a "Home for the Holidays Mega Adoption" event at the Jacksonville Fairgrounds.

The groups have a goal of sending more than 1,000 pets home with families, beating the number from their July event.

Rick DuCharme, executive director of FCNMHP said, "Each animal that is adopted saves two lives -- the life of that pet and the life of another that will take its place in the shelter."

The adoption event will take place from Friday, November 30 until Sunday, December 2. Adoptions will take place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

All pets will be spayed or neutered, vaccinated and microchipped.  Adoption fees will be vary by group.
