ATLANTIC BEACH, Fla. -- U.S. Coast Guard rescue crews medically evacuated a 63-year-old man off the coast of St. Augustine on Wednesday afternoon.
Curtis Deal's son called the Coast Guard after impact from a large wave was believed to have broken both of Deal's legs while they were on a 25-foot recreational boat, according to a release from the USCG.
A rescue boat from Coast Guard Station Mayport responded, as well as an air rescue crew from Air Station Savannah, Ga. Deal was airlifted and flown to Flagler Hospital in St. Augustine.
His condition is not known at this time.
