ALACHUA COUNTY, Fla. - Cattle roamed free Saturday on Interstate 75 after a cattle truck's right front tire blew out, causing it to crash, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The cattle truck, driven by Travis Carr, 20, of Okeechobee, Fla., was traveling southbound on Interstate 75, south of State Road 26, when the blowout forced it into the emergency lane, troopers said.
Carr's truck struck the guardrail on the right side and continued traveling south until it came to rest in the tree line, according to the crash report.
Several cattle escaped out of the trailer onto Interstate 75, according to FHP.
Traffic on the interstate stopped while the cattle were rounded up.
Carr was taken to Shands Gainesville with serious injuries.
