JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- First Coast News is doing something special Monday mornings throughout February, but we need your help! Tell us who you think deserves a makeover.
It might be someone who's battles breast cancer, or someone who wants to look a little special for a returning military spouse.
Our first Monday Makeover is a very special mother, daughter story.
"It's a beautiful thing that they do," said Ten Salon owner Sheila Powers. She and her staff are donating all of the makeovers.
Nicole Remo and her mother Jean were excited to get things started.
"It's just gonna be a fun day, a day we can relax and enjoy ourselves and get rid of the gray," Nicole said laughing.
There's no doubt they've earned it. The mother-daughter duo started a mission project called "Margaret's Memories."
"As a mother who lost her daughter 2 hours after she was born, it was important for me to keep her memory alive and to make a legacy for her," Nicole said.
Her church group now gives memory boxes to families at local hospitals that have lost their children shortly after birth, by miscarriage, or stillbirth.
"I've seen through my daughter what she went through when she lost her daughter," Jean said. "When I see her sitting in a rocking chair, holding that blanket because because she could still smell her baby, I thought everyone needed to have that."
And everyone, especially these women, deserves to be pampered.
"My hair feels so soft," Nicole said after her makeover. "She said my hair looks like it did when I was 21."
"I feel like a million dollars," Jean said.
"I hope they feel as beautiful as they are," Powers said. "That is what we wanted to do here today."
