Palatka Police see increase in residential burglaries

PALATKA, Fla. - The Palatka Police Department issued a warning to residents following an increase in residential burglaries within the city.

A statement posted Friday to the PPD Facebook page claims over the past four weeks, 20 residential burglaries have been documented within the city.

Items such as TV's, tablets, laptops and jewelry, along with money seem to be the most common items taken, according to the post.

The burglaries have occurred south of Reid Street and east of Husson Avenue, the post detailed.

The PPD is recommending residents keep valuables in a safe place and document serial numbers if possible. Police are also reminding residents to keep their doors locked, especially when they're not home.
