JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- JEA's website was down as of Monday evening, leaving customers unable to pay utility bills online.
"Our website and phone payment system is down. We will provide updates as soon as they are available. We apologize for any inconvenience," JEA's account Tweeted just before 9 p.m.
Gerri Boyce with JEA said the site's internet provider had a critical infrastructure device fail, leaving the online and phone payment systems in non-working order.
Alternate payment methods are still available.
"Payments can still be made at more than 140 payment locations, including
Winn-Dixie & Tax Collector branches. Thank you for your patience," JEA's Twitter account said.
Boyce said JEA began working on fixing the outage at 3 a.m. Monday and will continue to work into the night. Some customers were able to make online and phone payments, but the site was still officially down.
No customer's power will be disconnected until the problem is fixed, Boyce said.
