CAMDEN COUNTY, GA. - Four people are in custody in Georgia after allegedly committing an armed robbery in Florida and then fleeing the state.
Investigators with the Brevard County Sheriff's Office contacted the Camden County Sheriff's Office and asked that deputies be on the lookout for a vehicle that was allegedly used in an armed robbery in Titusville, Fla., according to a release from the CCSO.
Around 8:15 p.m. Tuesday night Camden County Sheriff's deputies spotted a car fitting the suspect vehicle's description near mile marker nine on I-95 and stopped it.
Jaromy Jazmin Floriano, 20, of Bluffton, South Carolina., was allegedly driving that vehicle and had active warrants out of Brevard County for armed robbery, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and grand theft.
Deputies said they found a loaded 12 gauge shotgun hidden under a towel by the driver's seat, along with a small amount of marijuana. Deputies also reported finding Floriano's infant child in the vehicle as well. The child was turned over to the Division of Family and Children Services in Georgia.
About an hour later, at 9:10 p.m., deputies were notified of alleged suspicious activity at the Sunshine Travel Plaza at exit 14 in Woodbine, Ga. Deputies searched a white SUV and discovered that the tags came back to a black Audi sedan. The SUV's driver, 25-year-old Brittany Lynn Shuman, and her passenger, 22-year-old Matthew Emmanuel Vazquez, allegedly had items in the SUV that deputies thought could have been stolen in the Brevard County armed robbery. Deputies also found that the pair from Savannah had a small amount of marijuana in the vehicle. A child in the vehicle, believed to be Shuman's, was turned over to a family member.
Investigators stopped a third vehicle, a gold-colored Lexus, 10 minutes later at the Glynn-Camden County line, and determined that the vehicle was stolen from Orange County, Florida. Deputies arrested the vehicle's driver, Yubran Marwalt Alverez-Vazquez, 20, of Bluffton, South Carolina.
All four suspects are being held in the Camden County Jail. Floriano is charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana and carrying a concealed weapon. Shuman is charged with possession of drug-related objects. Vazquez faces charges of bringing stolen property into the state and misdemeanor possession of marijuana. Alverez-Vazquez is charged with being a fugitive from justice and theft by bringing stolen property into the state. All of the suspects face additional charges.
