ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. -- Two men reportedly pepper-sprayed a 61-year-old Walmart employee in the face as they fled a Walmart with stolen electronics Friday morning, according to the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office.
The suspected thieves were headed towards the grocery entrance of the Walmart located at U.S. 1 with three flat screen TVs loaded in a shopping cart, according to SJSO media relations officer Kevin Kelshaw. A cashier yelled at the suspects to stop when another employee was entering the store.
The employee who was entering the store pursued the two men, until one suspect stopped pushing the cart and sprayed the employee in the face.
Deputies described the suspects as between 5'5" and 6' tall and they were last seen entering a large white SUV. The shorter suspect was wearing an "I love haters" baseball cap.
The Walmart employee was treated and released from Flagler Hospital.
Anyone with information concerning the identity of the two men is asked to call Crime Stoppers of Northeast Florida at 1-888-277-TIPS (8477).
