PALATKA, Fla. - A routine traffic stop in Putnam County Sunday, turned into a chase and drug bust.
Deputies with the Putnam County Sheriff's Office allegedly observed a vehicle fail to come to a complete stop at the intersection of Reid Street and 11th Street, according to a Facebook post by the Putnam County Sheriff's Office.
When deputies attempted to stop the car, the driver of the vehicle fled and accelerated to speeds of 50 to 60 miles-per-hour, the post detailed.
The driver was identified as Antione Clark, who eventually came to a stop and allegedly fled on foot, according to the PCSO post.
Deputies were able to catch Clark and allegedly found that Clark was driving without a license.
Clark is also accused of having one gram of marijuana in his pant pocket, however when deputies placed the loose marijuana on the truck of their patrol car, Clark allegedly blew the drugs off the vehicle. Deputies allegedly found two additional bags of marijuana in Clark's vehicle.
Clark was arrested and charged with fleeing and eluding law enforcement, driving while license suspended or revoked, resisting law enforcement without violence, possession of marijuana less than 20 grams, destruction of evidence and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Clark was released from the Putnam County jail on $4524 bond.
