If you had just one hour to evacuate your home, would you be able to get everything you need together to survive on your own for three days? Do you know where you and your family would go?
June 1 marks the official start of Hurricane Season. We put a First Coast Family to the test. The Benders knew we were coming to their home to film a story, but they had no idea why. When we arrived, we told them we were putting them through a hurricane evacuation drill.
While you would likely have much longer than an hour to prepare for a hurricane, that was the time we gave them to get their belongings together and come up with an evacuation plan. We started the clock and had the Red Cross on hand taking notes to review with the family after the drill.
Watch the story above to see how they did, and learn what you can do to help your family be more prepared.
