MELBOURNE, Fla. -- Police arrested two burglary suspects in the process of stripping two outboard boat motors at Atlantic Self Storage on July 7 around 10 p.m., according to a Brevard County Sheriff's Office Facebook post.
Deputies were able to capture the two suspects, 49-year-old Elio Enrique Lleo-Mayea, of Hialeah, and 33-year-old Jorge Luis Cabrera, of Palm Bay, with the help of the Aviation Unit, as they fled on foot.
The investigation determined that the group traveled from the Miami area to Brevard County on several occasions to conduct surveillance for potential burglary locations. The two outboard motors, which were stored at 4660 U.S. 1, were valued at $10,000 each.
After further investigation, it was revealed that the suspects allegedly committed an additional burglary and outboard motor theft at another Atlantic Self Storage located at 5180 N. U.S. 1, just prior to being caught.
Based on information obtained, the suspects are also believed to be connected to outboard motor thefts that occurred on May 5 and June 28 at Atlantic Self Storage where the suspects got away undetected, according to the Facebook post.
