JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office responded to a possible child abduction Thursday morning.
According to a spokesperson with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, police received a call around 9:45 a.m. after a witness called JSO claiming she had seen a female jump out of a car, who told her someone had taken off with her baby.
JSO responded to the area of Beach Boulevard and San Pareil Street. After talking with the woman, they found out the child's babysitter was driving the car. The babysitter was contacted by JSO and voluntarily drove back to the scene. The young child was found with her safe.
JSO also reached the child's father who provided information about the babysitter.
"Anytime we have this sort of situation, we want to put forth the most resources possible," says JSO Public Information Officer Melissa Bujeda.
According to JSO, the babysitter was on her way to take the child to the father.
The situation appears to be domestic, however JSO is investigating further.
