JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A 12-year-old girl fell from a horse while riding at the Sal Taylor Creek Preserve in Jacksonville Sunday evening, the Florida Times-Union reports.
She is now in life-threatening condition at UF Health Jacksonville.
The girl slid from the horse when it turned quickly around 6 p.m., the Sheriff's Office said.
She hit her head on a tree when she fell and was air lifted to the hospital, the Sheriff's Office said.
The horse did not have a saddle and she was not wearing a riding helmet, the Sheriff's Office said. She was being watched by adults when the accident occurred, according to the T-U.
The girl is the daughter of Jacksonville City Council Member Ray Holt. She is one of three children.
