St. Petersburg, Florida - Nancy Kavallierakis was drunk, according to St. Petersburg Police, when she slammed into a school bus around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday afternoon in the 2500 block of 30th Avenue North.

The 31-year-old mom was driving a 2006 Volkswagen with her 3-year-old boy in the car, according to cops. Records also show this is her third DUI arrest.

The bus driver, Cherry Banks, told 10 News that the accident was terrifying. Banks has been working for the Pinellas County school district for 19 years and "has never seen anything like this."

Banks was on her afternoon route with three teenage students on the bus. She says the kids were wearing their seat belts when Kavallierakis hit the bus "going at least 40 miles-an-hour."

"She hit us hard," said Banks.

Kavallierakis was charged with careless driving, felony DUI, and refusing to submit to a breathalyzer. Her bond was set at $5,250. She is scheduled for a court appearance Wednesday morning.

As for the longtime bus driver, she says she's shaken up and a little sore, but will be okay.

No one answered the door at Kavallierakis' St. Petersburg home.
