Pedestrian struck, killed while trying to catch cat

NASSAU COUNTY, Fla. -- A man was struck and killed by a truck while trying to catch his cat Saturday night. 

According to Florida Highway Patrol, David Michael Marsh was driving his Chevy Silverado on A1A east of Interstate 95 around 10 p.m. when he saw a man walking in his lane. 

The unidentified 25-year-old man, who was wearing dark clothing, was bent over trying to catch his cat, according to FHP. 

Marsh tried to stop, but struck the man, according to FHP. 

The unidentified man died at the scene. 

The cat was uninjured and caught by Nassau County Animal Control.

According to FHP, the deceased man will be identified once next of kin is notified. 

Charges are pending.
