JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The manager of a Normandy Boulevard McDonald's was leaving the restaurant with the day's deposit Saturday when she was blindsided, police say.

According to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, the manager of the McDonald's at 8029 Normandy Blvd. climbed in her personal car with money from the day with plans of heading to a nearby bank.

But before she could leave for the bank, a man jumped in her car and battered her.

Police say the unknown man took the deposit, an unknown amount of money, and fled on foot.

A witness at the McDonald's told JSO he noticed the man hanging around the front door and saw him after the incident take off towards the woods nearby.

The witness also told police the suspect dropped his hat and keys, but another man parked beside the victim's car picked them up and drove off.

The manager was not injured, according to JSO.

An employee at McDonald's told JSO the suspect made two purchases at the restaurant and used a credit card both times. According to JSO, the receipts are being investigated.
