HILLIARD, Fla. -- Multiple units responded to a fire that destroyed 75 percent of a Nassau County home early Friday morning.

According to Union President Curtis Bollinger, three Nassau County Fire Rescue stations responded to the fire along with one volunteer station's tanker.

The blaze in the 10100 block of Mulberry Landing Annex broke out shortly before 5 a.m., according to the Florida Highway Patrol's traffic crash website.

Bollinger said the homeowner was returning home from work when he discovered the flames.

It took crews about 10,000 gallons of water and between 10 and 15 minutes to put the fire out, Bollinger said.

The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time but Bollinger said the state fire marshal is investigating.  He said the Red Cross is helping the homeowner.
