HOUSTON, Tx. -- Andre Johnson scored on a 48 yard touchdown reception in overtime to give the Texans a 43-37 win over the Jaguars in overtime.
Matt Schaub completed 43 of 55 passes for 527 yards with 5 touchdowns and 2 interceptions.
Johnson had 14 receptions for 273 yards and a touchdown.
It appeared that the Jaguars were well on their way to another blowout loss when on their first possession, Blaine Gabbert was injured after the Texans scored a touchdown on their first possession.
Instead, the Jaguars played their best game of the season with backup quarterback Chad Henne leading the way. Henne completed 16 of 33 passes for 354 yards with 4 touchdowns and no interceptions.
Rookie Justin Blackmon also had a breakout game as he caught 7 passes for 236 yards and a touchdown. His previous high for receiving yards in a game was 67.
The Texans marched down the field with a 5 play, 84 yard drive in less than 3 minutes on their opening possession which was capped off by a Matt Schaub touchdown pass to Keshawn Martin.
The Jaguars responded by advancing the ball to around midfield before Gabbert sustained a right elbow contusion.
Chad Henne came in to replace Gabbert and one of his first completions was a 63-yard catch and run by Justin Blackmon who had his first career 100 yard day. A few plays after that, Henne found Marcedes Lewis for a touchdown to tie the score at 7.
The Jaguars took a 14-7 lead in the 2nd quarter when Cecil Shorts caught a short pass from Henne then made a couple defenders miss on his way to a 67 yard touchdown.
At halftime, the score was tied at 17. Josh Scobee kicked his second field goal of the game on the Jaguars opening drive of the third quarter as Jacksonville took a 20-17 lead. That lead grew to 27-17 after Henne connected with Lewis for another touchdown pass.
After a Texans field goal, Blackmon hauled in a long pass over the middle on a 3rd and 21 play. He then outraced the defense on an 81 yard touchdown reception, the longest play for the Jaguars all season. It gave the Jags a 34-20 lead.
The Texans responded with an 80-yard drive that culminated with a 1-yard touchdown pass from Schaub to Garrett Graham. That cut the Jaguars lead to 34-27.
Schaub and Graham connected on another touchdown with 1:34 remaining in the game to tie the score at 34.
Shayne Graham had a chance to kick a game-winning field goal at the end of regulation. He made a 42 yard field goal, but that was negated by a false start penalty. He then missed a 47 yard attempt badly which sent the game into overtime.
The Texans won the coin toss in overtime where Graham made a 25-yard field goal to give Houston a 37-34 lead.
The Jaguars got the ball after that and needed a field goal to extend overtime. On a 4th down play, Henne connected with Blackmon to move the chains. Then Jalen Parmele who started in place of Rashad Jennings, gained 28 yards on a run. The drive would stall after that and the Jaguars had to settle for a 33 yard field goal by Scobee.
Derek Cox intercepted a pass from Schaub on the ensuing drive. The Jaguars could not capitalize on that turnover as they turned it over on downs.
Johnson scored his game-winning touchdown on the next drive.
