Fairfax, VA (Sports Network) - Patrick Holloway finished with a game-high 15
points to lead the George Mason Patriots over the Old Dominion Monarchs,
71-46, in a Colonial Athletic Association contest at the Patriot Center.
For the Patriots (9-6, 2-1 CAA), Paris Bennett added 13 points.
Nick Wright led the Monarchs (2-14, 0-4) with 14 points while Keenan Palmore
chipped in 13 points, as they remained winless on the road and in conference
To open the game, George Mason shot 42.9 percent from the field, including 2-
of-9 from 3-point distance, as the Patriots went into halftime with a 30-22
lead. ODU struggled with its shooting, making only 28.6 percent of its
field goal tries, and missing all but one of its six 3-point attempts.
After intermission, the Monarchs continued to struggle, hitting on only 20
percent from the field and missing all three of their 3-point attempts. The
Patriots were red-hot coming out of the locker room, connecting on 75 percent
of their field goal attempts in the second half. A 15-4 run in the first eight
minutes of the half gave the Patriots a 19-point lead, effectively putting the
game away, as they cruised to victory.
George Mason dominated in the paint, outscoring ODU 36-16. The Patriots got a
whopping 58 points from their bench, to just nine for the Monarch reserves.
