Little Rock, AR (Sports Network) - James White had 16 points off the bench to
lead the Arkansas-Little Rock Trojans over the North Texas Mean Green, 67-53,
in a Sun Belt Conference showdown at the Jack Stephens Center.
Josh Hagins dropped in 11 points and dished out eight assists for the Trojans
(10-8, 4-3 Sun Belt), while Will Neighbour pulled down 11 rebounds.
Alzee Williams and Tony Mitchell each finished with 13 points for the Mean
Green (6-11, 1-5).
To open the contest, North Texas hit on 48 percent of its field goal attempts,
giving the Mean Green a 32-27 lead at the break. UALR shot 40.7 percent from
the field in the first half and 3-of-6 from 3-point range.
The Trojans came out hot in the second half, connecting on 60 percent of their
field goal tries, though just 2-of-3 from beyond the 3-point arc. The Mean
Green fared much worse, dropping to 31.8 percent from the field and just
1-of-3 from 3-point range. Trailing by six, 42-36, early in the second half,
UALR went on an 18-2 run to take a double-digit lead. North Texas got no
closer than eight the rest of the way, as the Trojans grabbed the victory.
UALR converted 17 North Texas turnovers into 25 points. The Trojans outscored
the Mean Green in the paint, 30-16.
