Chicago, IL (Sports Network) - The Green Bay Phoenix, led by Alec Brown with
25 points, took a 73-65 Horizon League win over the Loyola-Chicago Ramblers
at Gentile Arena.
Brown shot 10-of-14 from the field for the Phoenix (12-11, 6-4 Horizon), who
have won two of their last three and six of their last eight. Sultan Muhammad
scored 14 points while Cole Stefan added 13 off the bench. Jordan Fouse was the
games top rebounder with 13 boards.
Ben Averkamp was Loyola's (13-9, 3-6) top scorer and rebounder with 17 points
and six rebounds. Christian Thomas managed 15 points while Jordan Hicks
contributed 15. Cully Payne also put together a solid performance with 10
points and eight assists. The Ramblers have lost six of their last nine games.
Green Bay shot 52.0 percent from the floor in the first half and carried a
34-28 lead into the break.
The Phoenix shot even better in the second half, hitting on 65.0 percent of
their shots. After allowing the Ramblers to tie the game with just over five
minutes left, Green Bay outscored Loyola 18-10 the rest of the way to hold on
for the win.
While gathering a 32-20 rebounding edge of the Ramblers, Green Bay shot 57.8
percent from the floor throughout the game.
