Springfield, MO (Sports Network) - Marcus Marshall scored 19 points as the
Missouri State Bears held on for a 67-65 win over the Indiana State Sycamores
in a Missouri Valley Conference battle at JQH Arena.
Also scoring in double figures for the Bears (8-18, 6-8 MVC) were Christian
Kirk and Keith Pickens with 14 and 11 points, respectively, as the team
snapped a two-game slide. Pickens also accounted for a team-best nine
The Sycamores (16-9, 9-5), who entered the night in a three-way tie with
Creighton and Wichita State for first place in the conference standings, were
led by Jake Odum who logged 21 points, nine rebounds and seven assists,
followed by Manny Arop with 15 points in the setback.
Indiana State led by as many as eight points in the first six minutes of the
contest, but the squad shot only 34.5 percent from the floor in the half and
fell behind by a point at the break, 29-28.
In the second half MSU moved out to a 14-point advantage at the 8:53 mark, but
the Bears had their issues as well before holding on for the two-point

the free-throw line, 20-13.
