Queens, NY (Sports Network) - Jakarr Sampson scored 20 points to lead the St. John's Red Storm to a 69-54 rout of the South Florida Bulls in a Big East tilt at Carnesecca Arena.

D'Angelo Harrison had 18 points while Sir'Dominic Pointer registered 12 points, 10 rebounds and six assists for St. John's (16-0, 8-6 Big East), which snapped a two-game losing skid. Marco Bourgault added 10 points.

Victor Rudd went for 18 points and 11 rebounds as South Florida (10-16, 1-13) lost its eighth straight contest.

St. John's jumped out to an 8-0 advantage early on and led 33-17 behind points from all seven members of the Red Storm that took the floor in the first half. USF could not find the range in the opening period as they hit just 2-of-14 from behind the arc while St. John's took care of the ball, turning it over just twice.

USF went on a 7-0 run early in the second half but failed to cut the deficit to single digits as the Red Storm responded with a 7-0 run of their own sparked by five points from Sampson. St. John's took care of business from the foul line late to keep the Bulls at bay.

St. John's improved to 7-2 all-time against USF.
