San Jose, CA (Sports Network) - Sharks forward Martin Havlat is out indefinitely following surgery to repair damage from several lower-body injuries which prevented him from participating in much of the postseason.

The procedure, called a bilateral pelvic floor reconstruction, was performed in Philadelphia by Dr. William Myers earlier in June, according to the Mercury News.

Havlat suffered a groin injury at the outset of a four-game sweep over the Vancouver Canucks, and did not return until Game 3 of the following round against Los Angeles. He departed that contest and did not return. San Jose lost the series in seven games.

The 32-year-old totaled eight goals and 18 points in 40 regular-season games.

Despite speculation that general manager Doug Wilson might target Havlat for a compliance buyout this summer, under terms of the new Collective Bargaining Agreement, the surgery has made him ineligible.

Havlat is due $5 million for next season and $6 million for the final year of his current contract in 2014-15.
