Harrison, NJ (Sports Network) - The New York Red Bulls have signed forward/winger Bradley Wright-Phillips, the club announced on Wednesday.

"Since Bradley's potential was first recognized by Manchester City and the England Under-20 side, he has proved to be a goal scorer of note, whether playing up front or as a winger. We are delighted to sign him," said Red Bulls sporting director Andy Roxburgh. "He will certainly add another dimension to our roster with his pace and technical ability."

Wright-Phillips, the younger brother of former England international Shaun Wright-Phillips, began his professional career in 2004 when he graduated from Manchester City's youth academy and played for the Premier League club until 2006.

He then moved to Southampton, where he made 111 appearances for the Saints, scoring 22 goals. Following his time with Southampton, Wright-Phillips featured for Plymouth Argyle before the former English Under-20 international moved to Charlton Athletic.

At Charlton, Wright-Phillips scored 31 goals in 82 games. Most recently, Wright-Phillips was at Brentford on loan, playing 15 matches and recording five goals.

The London native will officially be added to the Red Bulls roster upon receipt of his P-1 visa and international transfer certificate.
