Barcelona, Spain (Sports Network) - Rain delayed the start of Saturday's semifinals at the $2.23 million Barcelona Open tennis event.

When play finally got underway, second-seeded Spaniard Rafael Nadal and countryman Nicolas Almagro both made quick work of their opponents.

Nadal, a seven-time Barcelona champion, topped fifth-seeded Canadian Milos Raonic 6-4, 6-0 to extend his winning streak at this tournament to 38 matches.

The French Open king Nadal reached his sixth final in as many ATP events this season. He lost to Novak Djokovic in last week's championships match at the Monte Carlo Masters, but captured his 53rd career title at Indian Wells in March.

Meanwhile, the fourth-seeded Almagro dropped one fewer game in his 6-2, 6-1 dismantling of eighth-seeded German Philipp Kohlschreiber.

Almagro advanced to his 20th career final, all of which have been played on clay, and owns 12 titles. He was a runner-up at Houston earlier this month.

Nadal is 9-0 lifetime against Almagro.
