JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Jacksonville Sharks arena football team has announced that fans will receive free admission and parking to an upcoming preseason game at the Veterans Memorial Arena.
The opponnent for this game is the Tampa Bay Storm, and kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Monday, February 28, 2011.
On the night of the game, the Sharks are asking fans to bring one non-perishable canned food item per person. The donations will be made to the Second Harvest North Florida Food Bank.
2010 was the Sharks' inaugural season, and they won 12 games which is a record for an expansion team in the Arena Football League. The Sharks also won the South Division title, but they lost to the Orlando Predators in their first playoff game.
The AFL's all-time leading passer, Aaron Garcia, returns to lead the Sharks for a second year as the quarterback. Wide receivers Jomo Wilson, Sale' Key, and Jeron Harvey are also among the players who return from last year's team.
The regular season for the Sharks begins on March 12th when they visit Arizona. The first home game during the regular season will be on March 18th against the Georgia Force. Also that night, First Coast News will air a 30-minute special in which viewers will get an all-access behind the scenes look at the Sharks.
