JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The ArenaBowl XXIV Champion Jacksonville Sharks announced Thursday that quarterback Bernard Morris has been assigned to the 2012 roster.
Morris served as Jacksonville's backup quarterback during the 2010 season, completing 51 of 83 passes for 567 yards and eight touchdowns against no interceptions. Morris was also the team's second-leading rusher that season, carrying the ball 32 times for 97 yards and six touchdowns. The versatile Morris also started three games at "Jack" linebacker, recording twelve total tackles and a pass breakup during the 2010 season.
Last season, Morris played for the Pittsburgh Power, throwing 55 touchdowns against just nine interceptions in 11 games with the team. Morris also led the Power in rushing, racking up 312 yards on just 46 carries.
The 26-year-old Morris played collegiate football at Marshall and began his professional career with the Arkansas Twisters of the Indoor Football League in 2009.
To make room for Morris on the roster, the Sharks announced that quarterback Herbert Bynes has been placed on reassignment.
