One of the fun things about the Super Bowl and other big events is reading the commentary on Twitter -- a social media group that included first lady Michelle Obama on Sunday night.
Early in the second half, Obama tweeted out praise for the halftime entertainment: "Watching the #SuperBowl with family & friends. @Beyonce was phenomenal! I am so proud of her! -mo"
Beyonce, you'll recall, sang (lip-synced) the national anthem at President Obama's second inaugural ceremony Jan. 21.
After the Baltimore Ravens held on to beat the San Francisco 49ers by a score of 34-31, Michelle Obama sent another tweet: "Great game! Congrats to the @Ravens. See you at the White House! -mo"
No comments on the power outage that interrupted the contest for more than 30 minutes.
Also no tweets from the president.
Shortly before kickoff, the White House sent out a message on the Obamas' game watching plans:
"The president and the first lady are hosting a personal party for friends and family to watch the Super Bowl today.
"In honor of the two teams, they will be serving Chesapeake crab cakes and San Francisco cioppino stew with sourdough toast. They'll also be serving Anchor Steam and Clipper City, beers from the competing cities."
