Newark, NJ (Sports Network) - Tina Charles had 25 points and 14 rebounds, and Kara Lawson netted half of Connecticut's 14 straight points to end the game, as the Sun beat the New York Liberty, 75-62, to sweep their Eastern Conference semifinal series.

Connecticut, which took a 65-60 victory at home on Thursday, will meet the winner of the Atlanta Dream/Indiana Fever series. The Dream took the first game on Friday and Game 2 is set for Sunday.

Plenette Pierson's jumper with 4:22 to play gave the Liberty the lead at 62-61, but Lawson answered with a 4-point play to start the string of 14 consecutive points. Charles had nine points in the last quarter.

Asjha Jones totaled 20 points and eight rebounds and Lawson posted 15 points, nine rebounds and six assists for the Sun, who finished first in the Eastern Conference with a 25-9 record.

Cappie Pondexter had 20 points and Kara Braxton finished the game with 10 points for the Liberty, who have lost in the semifinals in the past two seasons.

The Liberty held a 33-27 lead after the first two quarters, but the Sun cut into the deficit in the third quarter and trailed 52-50.

Lawson quickly tied the game with a bucket and Renee Montgomery followed with a 3-pointer, her only points of the game, to give the Sun the lead.
