GREEN COVE SPRINGS, Fla. -- The Clay County Sheriff's Office has pulled the body of a missing man from Black Creek.
The body of 58-year-old Nathaniel Jones was found shortly after 9 a.m. Tuesday morning, according to Clay County Sheriff's Office Public Information Officer Mary Justino. An exact cause of death will be determined by the Jacksonville Medical Examiner. Justino said there is no foul play suspected.
Jones was last seen around 2 p.m. Monday. He was at a residence in Hidden Waters cleaning a boat for a resident. Jones also lives in the Hidden Waters neighborhood.
Justino said when he went home for lunch, he told his girlfriend he was not feeling well but went back to the job site with a neighbor.
Jones' girlfriend called the Clay County Sheriff's Office at 9 p.m. Monday night after Jones failed to return home from work.
When deputies checked the dock Jones had been working on, they found his cigarettes, lighter and a bucket of water with bleach in it. The owner of the boat said Jones was supposed to come to his house to get paid once he was finished, but never showed up.
Police checked the home of the girlfriend, but Justino said they found nothing out of the ordinary. Jones' wallet and cell phone were found at the home. His girlfriend told police he had been complaining of chest pains for a few weeks.
The Clay County Sheriff's Office's Dive Team was called out to the dock location to search the canal. Jones' body was found in the water near the dock.
