JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- An Illinois man died after has his throat slashed early Sunday morning at The Landing.
On Monday morning the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office tweeted the mugshot of Matthew Hinson, 27, of Jacksonville.
Hinson was arrested for the murder of William Pettry, 42 of Lake Villa, Illinois.
Homicide investigators with Jacksonville Sheriff's Office responded at 1:40 a.m. Sunday to The Jacksonville Landing after the Illinois man died after being slashed in the throat.
Police say Pettry was involved in a disturbance at Fionn MacCool's, an Irish pub, with two other people inside of the restaurant.
Police say that during the confrontation, Hinson stabbed Pettry. Pettry was later pronounced dead, said Officer Shannon Hartley of the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.
Police say Pettry was in Jacksonville to attend the Jaguars football game against the Chicago Bears.
Paul Glaser is the General Manager of Finn MacCool's. He said he was shocked and saddened at what happened and his thoughts go out to the family of Pettry.
Glaser said he's been in the restaurant business for 30 years and has never had anything like this happen before at a restaurant where he's worked.
Glaser said a group of people in the restaurant followed the suspect to the parking lot and kept him there until police arrived.
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is planning a press conference for Monday.
The investigation is ongoing.
