JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Nathaniel Ford has been named the new executive director and chief executive officer of the Jacksonville Transportation Authority.
He was unanimously selected out of three candidates in a 7-1 vote by the JTA board on Wednesday.
Ford has previously held the top spots for the transportation systems in Atlanta and San Francisco. He is currently the managing principal for The Ford Transportation Group LLC in Atlanta.
"For a city and region to realize its economic potential it must have a first-class transportation system," said JTA Chairman Ed Burr. "Nat Ford is an accomplished transportation executive, a proven visionary and motivator and is uniquely positioned to lead our agency into the future."
Burr will now meet with Ford to negotiate his employment contract, according to a release from JTA. Ford will replace departing CEO Michael Blaylock.
