JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Jacksonville Sheriff's Office cold case investigators were working outside of a duplex in the 4100 block of Lorenzo Court after an officer involved shooting early Wednesday morning.
No injuries were reported after an officer opened fire on a suspect, according to Public Information Officer Shannon Hartley with the sheriff's office. The suspect, Damian Treadway, is now in custody.
Police were originally called out to 4148 Lorenzo Court at 1:55 a.m. after an initial call came in from a concerned homeowner about a car that was driving back and forth in front of the home, according to Assistant Chief Christopher Butler. Officers were unable to find anything.
The homeowner made a second call claiming that the individual had returned, so police were dispatched for a second time at 2:21 a.m. As they arrived at the home, they approached the property on foot and found an individual in the yard armed with a handgun.
Police ordered him to get to the ground, but the individual turned towards the police. As he turned an officer opened fire twice at the individual, but missed him both times. The bullets struck a home behind him.
The suspect fell to the ground and was detained by police.
No charges are expected to be filed against the individual for turning towards the police but other charges may be pending, Butler said.
The investigation is still ongoing.
