JACKSONVILLE, Fla. --  A five year-old boy is recovering after being grazed by a bullet fired into a Northwest Jacksonville home located on Danville Avenue on Tuesday evening.

JSO says one shot was fired into the home, striking a window in the living room and hitting the little boy. The child was taken to a hospital as a precaution.

Officers say that someone entered the front yard of the home and fired a gun, fleeing on foot.

Family of the child could not be reached for comment on Wednesday. Two police cruisers were parked outside the home during the morning, watching the home that had a taped up window.

"I heard a shot, heard a single shot," said Maurice Cummings, who lives just down the street from where the bullet hit the little boy.

A woman who has lived on Danville for the past seven years said she was tired of all the gunfire.

"It is just scary, just too much shooting going on right here now," said the homeowner, who did not want to be identified.

In September on the same block, a 50 year-old man was fatally shot while riding his bike. Near that crime scene is a memorial with a stuffed animal near the First Coast Crime Stoppers sign.
