Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department extinguishes fire at boarded up house downtown

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department has extinguished a fire at a single-story house downtown.

According to the JFRD Facebook page, Station 1 responded to the the 500 block of East Church Street just after 9 p.m.

A pedestrian walked to the station and alerted firefighters that the boarded up home was on fire, according to Tom Francis of JFRD.

The blaze was extinguished within 15 minutes and no one was injured.

The State Fire Marshall's Office will investigate the fire due to its suspicious nature, Francis said.
