JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A First Coast Good Samaritan donates $2,000 to a local man robbed at gunpoint Friday.

The donor chose to remain anonymous, but called First Coast News on Sunday night after seeing 57-year-old Clifford Campbell's story.

Campbell was robbed of his rent and light bill money while he was walking to a convenience store to pay JEA. The police report said two masked robbers, dressed in black, pointed a large semi-automatic weapon at Campbell's head and demanded money.

Campbell had just left his residence and was walking from Payne Avenue towards Myrtle to the Kozy Korner; he had $700 in his pocket.

Thanks to the generous viewer, Campbell can pay his $450 rent and other bills.

"He was just like my guardian angel. We sat up here and we just consoled each other spiritually, he was telling me about when he had troubles and I was telling him about mine. He really was a big blessing, he really was a big blessing," said Campbell. "And I admire him, we sat up here and we hugged each other and I told him I would always keep in touch with him."

Campbell said he will also use the money to pay back a friend who paid his light bill. He said he hopes others will learn from his experience and never carry large amounts of cash.

Campbell was robbed less than a mile from where a local cab driver was shot and robbed three weeks ago.
