BRUNSWICK, Ga. -- In a mid-day media update, the Glynn County Police Department released new information on the ongoing investigation into the shooting death of a Brunswick baby.
Glynn County Police Department Chief Matt Doering explained during a conference call with media that the shooting of 13-month-old Antonio Santiago appears to have been a random crime.
Doering also explained at this point of the investigation the crime is leaning towards being gang related. However Doering said he would not discuss the relationship between the two suspects, 17-year-old, De'Marquise Elkins and a 15-year-old.
Doering described the crime as, "the worst evil that's happened," and said additional witnesses have been identified and some warrants are still outstanding.
The GCPD is also exploring whether or not the gun recovered could have been used in other crimes.
The gun was recovered early Tuesday morning in a marsh behind Brunswick Floors.
"The truth will come to light at the proper time," During said as he wrapped up the conference.
An investigation is ongoing.
