Jacksonville Sheriff's Office: No witnesses in shooting that ended fatally

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A man who was in life-threatening condition after he was shot Thursday night has died.

Ray G. Jones, 39, died after suffering gunshot wounds, according to Jacksonville Sheriff's Office Public Information Officer Melissa Bujeda.

Officers were responding to an unrelated crash at 20th Street West and Myrtle Avenue around 9:30 p.m. Thursday when they heard shots fired in the 1300 block of W. 21st Street, JSO Sgt. Sean Coarsey told First Coast News on Thursday night.

They searched on foot and found Jones outside of a duplex suffering from gunshot wounds.

There were no witnesses to the shooting and no suspect information was available as of Thursday night.
