JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A local family is on edge while the man who allegedly broke in to their home and stole a teen girl's underwear is still on the loose.
There is a warrant out for Darius Taylor's arrest, but the family says until he's caught, they're scared to go to sleep.
"They were screaming, they have nightmares, they wake up," said Qshawn Smith.
Smith said her six-year-old son and 15-year-old daughter are terrified after police say 21-year-old Taylor broke in to her daughter's room.
"He came through this window, and my screen porch. He broke this to get in," he said.
Qshawn was at work when her six-year-old allegedly found Taylor in his sister's room, going through her underwear drawer.
When her daughter spotted him she called her mom, but said Taylor got on the phone and threatened her.
"She's crying, and he gets on the phone and states, 'I'm looking at your daughter. And I went off on him,'" she said.
After she hung up, Qshawn said Taylor walked calmly out the front door with a pair of underwear, and hasn't been seen since.
JSO issued a warrant for Taylor for trespassing, but Qshawn thinks it's a more serious crime.
"He's 21 years old and my daughter's 15. And I have a problem with that. I don't care what his intentions are, he came in here and violated me," she said.
JSO said it's an ongoing case, and charges will be filed after he's arrested, which Qshawn said better be soon.
"If they're talking about safety, safety comes first. And they need to catch him. Because if he did it once, he'll do it again," she said.
