JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A Westside resident reached out to First Coast News' phone bank Monday night about an intersection she feels is dangerous.

Teresa Ratamore is worried about the amount of crashes at 103rd Street and Firestone Road.

We spoke with a nearby business owner with similar concerns; there are too many crashes at the intersection.

After a little digging, First Coast News learned the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is seeking two to three million dollars for an overhaul of 103rd Street between I-295 and McManus Drive, which would include the alleged crash heavy intersection.

Changes to the road would include new traffic signals as well as more turn lanes, however the project is still a few years away.
