ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. -- Cocaine that was found washed up on the shore early Friday has a street value of $7.5 million dollars, according to the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office.

The package that was found contained 25 kilos of the drug, which is worth $1 million if not cut and turned into crack or powder cocaine.

The Sheriff's Office said it is working with other agencies to investigate where the cocaine came from.

"It appears this cocaine was bound for Florida as a destination," said SJSO Commander Chuck Mulligan. "We don't know for sure if it was intended to be dropped off on the shores of St. Johns County, or if some other event given all the rough weather that was prevailing over the weekend. We do not know if something became of a vessel or an aircraft or some other supply boat."

The cocaine was wrapped as if it were imported into the country. The Sheriff's Office said it was most likely from South America, although the investigation is ongoing.
