JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A Jacksonville Sheriff's Office K-9 helped to apprehend a suspect attempting to evade officers.

Christopher Trulock, 34, allegedly stole a car from an 88-year-old woman at a gas station on Sunbeam Road this afternoon, according to a post on JSO's Facebook page.

Trulock approached the woman and told her she had a nail in her tire. When the woman walked back to look at her tire, the suspect got into her vehicle and fled the scene.

JSO found the suspect and the stolen vehicle on Underwing Way.

The suspect jumped the fence behind a building and landed in mud, leaving behind shoe prints.

Multiple officers responded and set up a perimeter and a search began. The suspect was apprehended by a K-9 Officer and two other officers behind a dumpster.

The suspect was arrested and transported to a local hospital, due to being bitten by a police service dog. The suspect's shoes were collected and placed into the property room for evidence.
